Watering Restrictions

Current Water Conservation Measures

STAGE ONE WATERING RESTRICTIONS

For 2011, in co-operation with our water conservation measures, and using the water allotments listed below, we ask THAT YOU DO NOT SPRINKLE BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 9:00 A.M. TO 7:00 P.M

This applies to ALL natural and  landscaped areas!

Automatic underground irrigation systems must be set to water between the hours of 12:00 A.M. to 6:00 A.M. ONLY.

The Board of Trustees sincerely appreciates your co-operation of adhering to our water conservation measures.  Watering in early morning or evening does twice as much good as during the day.

Agricultural property with a district irrigation connection and

flow restrictor is exempt from these restrictions.

You may use micro-irrigation, drip irrigation or a hose with a shut-off nozzle to hand water trees, shrubs or vegetables, at any time.

STAGE TWO AND STAGE THREE RESTRICTIONS TO BE ANNOUNCED IF THEY ARE IMPLEMENTED.

Water Allotments:

.00 - .33 acre 2 gallons per minute or one (1) sprinkler
.34 - .66 acre 4 gallons per minute or two ( 2) sprinklers
.67 - 1.0 acre 6 gallons per minute or three (3) sprinklers

All agricultural water is controlled at a rate of 6.25 gallons per minute per acre.

A Quick Guide to Your Responsibilities

It is your responsibility not to exceed your allotment  for all outside watering. If you are unsure of your acreage or allotment, please contact our office. . A sample of a Dole valve to restrict your flow of water is shown on this page.
It is your responsibility to know where your water shutoff is and to ensure that it is accessible to the KID staff. KID's responsibility ends at the property line.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you do not contaminate the water system. Dangerous backflows can happen in the event of a power outage and a hose is left in a bucket. A backflow can also be created with the home use of attached applicators for fertilizer and weed killers. You must use a backflow preventer. For samples of what they look like see the pictures on this page.
The KID has a Cross-Connection Control Program in place, please call the office for assistance if you need it.
It is your responsibility to properly maintain your filter system if you have one in your home
It is your responsibility to save water by making conservation a priority in your home
