Kaleden's water supply comes from Skaha Lake and is
chlorinated at the source.
Once per week, a water sample is sent to an accredited lab and
tested for coliform bacteria. The results are monitored by the Interior Health
Authority. Once per week at four location the system is tested for chlorine residuals.
Our computer system monitors the levels in our reservoirs,
chlorine residual, turbidity and flow. There are alarms on place which
notify staff immediately should the levels get out of the normal range.
Occurrences of this are very rare.
The Interior Health Authority required that we operate under
strict guidelines. We have a certified operator on staff.
This water testing and quality report
from 2008 data has
been prepared by Kaleden Irrigation District for our customers as per the
requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act, which came into effect on May 16,
2003.
